Monday - Friday Something's Fishy: Story Spots View the Story Spot schedule here -

Rainbow FishAttend a 20-minute Something Fishy: Story Spot and receive one of our rainbow fish. There's three fish bowls your fish can choose to swim in. Put your fish in the bowl(s) of the book you'd like to try to win.

Attend a session where one of our featured fish stories (The Rainbow Fish, The Pout-Pout Fish, & A Fish Out of Water) is read and get an extra fish to enter into our story session drawing. And no, we're not telling which one's they'll be. :)

Fishy Prizes!

We have 3 fishy prizes to give away at the end of National Library Week. Each fishy prize includes one of the three featured fish stories along with other fun fishy stuff.

Pout Pout FishYou must be 12 or younger to enter for a fishy prize. But don't pout, during National Library Week there's lots of great ways for all ages to qualify for a prize. Ask at the desk for details about other chances for National Library Week prizes.

Remember there's lots of fish in the sea. Attend lots of story sessions during National Library Week and lots of those fish can have your name on them. Every fish you add equals more chances for you to win!

Fish Out of WaterFish are not awarded for the sign-up story times or the egg hunt sessions. Qualifying story sessions will NOT require pre-registration, but will be open to the public and will be scheduled between 14 and 18 April 2014.

And finally, don't let your fish be caught out of the water. All fish must be turned into one of the fish bowls by Friday, 18 Apr. 2014 at 5 p.m. Winners will be notified Saturday, 19 Apr. 2014.

Facebook First Lines Contest Rules

BCPL on FacebookFollow us on Facebook and watch for “First Lines Contest” posts. Be the first to correctly name the title of the book the first line came out of and your name will be entered into our Facebook First Lines Contest drawing.

First lines will come from the first sentence of chapter one – prologues or other introductory passages will not be used.

Participants are not limited in the number of times their name may be entered in the drawing. For every title which a participant is the first to name correctly, his/her name will be entered in the drawing.

“First Lines Contest” posts will appear multiple times daily starting Monday, 14 April and running through 5 p.m. on Saturday, 19 April 2014. Any “First Lines Contest” posts not solved by Saturday, 19 April 2014 at 5 p.m. will not qualify for the Facebook First Lines Contest drawing.

One winner will be drawn from the names of those collected during the week. He/She will be notified on Monday, 21 April 2014. The winner will receive his/her choice of a book with the cover price of $35 or less from Friends of the Brigham City Library. Books selected must be in-print titles. Hard-to-find titles and/or titles priced above the book’s cover price will not qualify as a prize selection.

Fairy Tale Guess-it Jar Contest Rules

Fairy Tale JarsVisit the library during National Library Week, 14 – 19 April 2014, and check out the guess-it jars on the slat wall across from the circulation desk. There are 10 jars and each jar contains one fairy tale. Fill out an answer sheet telling us your best guess at which fairy tale each jar contains for a chance at a prize. All fairy tales used in the jars are in the library’s fairy tale collection under the call number X 398.2.

Three winners will be selected via a drawing.

  • The first will be drawn from all entry forms. They will be awarded a prize only if they have named at least 5 of the fairy tales correctly.
  • The second winner will be selected by drawing only from the entry forms which named at least 8 of the fairy tales correctly.
  • The third winner will be selected by drawing only from the entry forms which named all 10 fairy tales correctly. If none of the entry forms correctly identify all 10 fairy tales then the third winner will be selected via drawing from those forms which named at least 9 fairy tales correctly, etc.

One entry per person.

The winners will each receive his/her choice of a book with the cover price of $20 or less. Books selected must be in-print titles. Hard-to-find titles and/or titles priced above the book’s cover price will not qualify as a prize selection.

So take your time with your guesses, think about your responses. Remember the more you get right the more chances you’ll have in the drawing and the lighter the competition becomes. Just be sure your entry form is turned in by Saturday, 19 April 2014 at 5 p.m. Entries without a legible name and phone number or without legible responses will be disqualified. Winners will be notified Monday, 21 April 2014.

Please be sure to thank our 2014 sponsors
